The seat is currently held by the incumbent Kristine Scott

General Municipal Election
November 3, 2026

David VanGorden Rancho Cucamonga City Council candidate

Why I’m Running

My name is David VanGorden, and I am running for Rancho Cucamonga City Council in District 2 because I believe our city deserves leadership that listens first, asks questions, and votes with common sense.

I have lived in Rancho Cucamonga for more than 30 years. I raised my family here and served this community as a police officer. This city is not just where I live — it’s home.

Over the years, I have watched Rancho Cucamonga grow. Growth can be positive. But growth without infrastructure is not progress.

Too often, residents tell me they feel unheard. They attend meetings, submit comments, and follow major decisions — yet they see frequent 5–0 votes on projects that significantly impact traffic, neighborhoods, and quality of life.

When outcomes feel predetermined, trust erodes.

That disconnect must change.

What I Believe

I believe Rancho Cucamonga deserves:

  • Responsible growth that keeps pace with infrastructure
  • Transparent decision-making
  • Healthy debate at the dais
  • Fiscal responsibility with taxpayer dollars
  • Leadership that remains accessible after Election Day

Your vote should matter — not just during an election, but every time your City Council casts one.

Why This Election Matters

The decisions made by the Rancho Cucamonga City Council today will shape traffic patterns, public safety, business climate, and neighborhood character for decades.

Before approving large-scale development, we must ask:

  • Are the roads prepared?
  • Are emergency services adequately staffed?
  • Is water and infrastructure capacity truly in place?
  • Have residents been fully heard?

These are responsible questions that deserve clear answers.

My Commitment to You

If elected to the Rancho Cucamonga City Council, I will:

  • Put the public interest above special interests
  • Maintain an open-door policy before and after the election
  • Explain my votes clearly and publicly
  • Ask hard questions before casting a vote
  • Support local small businesses that form the backbone of our community

I am not running to maintain the status quo.

I am running to restore confidence in local government through independence, transparency, and common-sense leadership.
